FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you travel?
Yes I cover weddings all over the UK and so distance isn't a problem. I'm based in Kingston Upon Thames but regularly travel all over the country.
What is your style?
You can find out more about me at Hello and 'Why I Shoot Film' but I would describe my style as fine art wedding photography.
Do you do any bride and groom shots after the ceremony?
Yes and this is one of my favourite parts of the day. These usually take about 15 minutes somewhere at or in the grounds of the venue. I might suggest a backdrop and a loose positioning and then let you do what you would naturally do so the photographs are stylish but very natural. There is lots of chatting, laughing and fun during this 15 minutes so the time flies by. My aim is to record your wedding day with photographs that showcase your day honestly, genuinely and beautifully; a combination of fine art and real life.
Can we have group shots?
Of course. I appreciate that most couples have the need for a small number of group shots. I recommend this is kept to a maximum of five so that there are no gaps in the storytelling of what was happening on your day.
Do you shoot everything on film?
For 2013 weddings my pricing will be changing slightly to accommodate film and I am so, so excited about being able to shoot weddings 100% on film. You can find more about why I love film so much at 'Why I Shoot Film'. For those who have already booked weddings for 2012 I'll be bringing my medium format film camera along too as an extra bonus and mixing it up with digital. If you are looking to make a 2012 booking (there are only a few spots still available) then I'll be shooting them exclusively on film too.
Do we need to provide you with a meal?
I don't expect, nor is there any need to spend money on a meal for me. Whilst you are enjoying your wedding breakfast I'll take a break. But I never say no to a little bit of wedding cake!
Photographer X is offering thousands of images on disc all for £900 - why don't you?
Photography is my profession. I'm not doing this to supplement other income. I believe passionately in photography as an art form and I'm not a 'spray and pray' type of photographer that shoots everything that moves. Each time I press the shutter it is a considered action and with film photography it is even more important that you have the artistic vision when you take the photograph, you can’t create it afterwards at a computer.
I really believe that photographs should be printed (Do you remember photographs?). A wedding day is about making a lifelong commitment to the one you love and and celebrating that commitment with your family and friends. It's an important event in your family history and when the day is over, the cake eaten and your dress back in the cupboard it will be your photographs that will transport you back to all the emotion, love and happiness on your wedding day. For this reason all my clients receive their photographs in a beautiful custom made album. One that you will want to pick up and look through time and time again. Of course, I'm well aware of the convenience and appeal of digital files and if you would like a set of digital files in addition to your album then I can arrange for the negatives to be scanned for you.
How do we choose which pictures we would like for our album?
I really strongly believe in telling the whole story of your day and I always shoot with your album in mind. Your draft album design will therefore contain all the images from your wedding day. Once you have seen the whole design, if there are a few images you would like removed for whatever reason then they can be and a revised design will be sent to you for approval. Clients find this a much easier process than being asked to choose their favourite xx number of pictures for an album design.
What about pricing?
As a film shooter you might find my rates are a little more than some digital shooters in order to cover the costs of beautiful film and to ensure it is developed by the very best. However, I believe that the gorgeous colour palette of film, wonderful warmth and timeless elegance of film are really worth that extra little bit of investment.
Prices start from £2250 and include your full album (no album upgrade costs are involved following your wedding). Please email or call to discuss what your requirements are and we can discuss what options would suit you and your budget best.
How do we book?
Just call or email me and I'll check availability. There are just a few spots left for 2012 and a few more open for 2013 so if you've set your date get in touch and I can check availability.
How long before we can see our wedding photographs?
Developing film takes time and it's a process that can't be rushed. However, I work with some fantastic printers and your images will be ready for viewing in an online gallery 6 weeks (sometimes sooner) after your wedding day.
Anything else you'd like to know?
I go everywhere with my camera, have a crazy number of pictures of my son Noah (who is turning out to be a great model), love my family to bits, am addicted to any kind of adrenaline sport, have a very talented musician sister, used to make ball gowns just for fun and trained as a garden designer before I realised that I loved photographing people (but still haven't redesigned our own garden!).
